Essential oils for Healthy Thyroid Support: Part 2 Follow Up

As I explained in a past post, I have struggled with keeping my thyroid hormone levels in check. It’s been a problem for quite some time. I would have days, and even whole weeks at a time where it was all I could do to drag myself out of bed in the morning and not crawl back in any chance I got.

Exhausted housewife

I craved sugar and carbs like crazy, and kept enough stubborn weight around my middle that I was constantly being asked “When are you due?” (That’s horribly embarrassing, by the way.) My hair was constantly falling out, and my mood was all over the place. I was cold all the time, until I was enough overweight that then I was hot all the time. Despite exercising and eating well, my weight continued to creep up.

I’m sure some of you know EXACTLY what I’m talking about.

I went to my doctor, who was willing to help me address the issues in the most natural way she was familiar with, and I’m grateful for that. I was put on NP Thyroid medication, and it did an ok job. I wasn’t quite as exhausted, my moods weren’t quite as volatile. All my doctor could suggest was upping the dosage, which didn’t sit right with me. I wanted to solve the problem, not mask it.

So, as I always do, I started researching.

I was already familiar with herbs, and homeopathics, and essential oils, and I came across a blend for thyroid support that I thought I’d give a try. I posted it back in this post here. As I learned more about the oils, and their amazing properties, I knew I needed to add Frankincense and Myrrh to the blend. So I did. I used the blend religiously, even keeping a little roller bottle in my pocket so I could apply it during the day.

I started noticing improvements. Getting up in the morning was getting easier. I wasn’t falling asleep at 2:30 in the afternoon while sitting up doing something. My hair wasn’t falling out. I started to believe that I could naturally support my health and not take a prescription for the rest of my life.

I was excited about this progress, and started looking at what else I could do to continue to give my thyroid what it needed.

It was about this time that I learned about and first purchased my Lifelong Vitality vitamins. I am not kidding when I say that these vitamins changed my life. These, along with doTERRA’s Mito2Max supplement, gave my body exactly what it needed. Simple as that. I still can’t believe it. A roller bottle and some phenomenal vitamins changed my life.

I have had a healthy thyroid for over a year now. I wake up in the morning when I want to. I am awake and alert and full of energy throughout the day. I can exercise without exhaustive muscle fatigue. I don’t crave sugar, or carbs. With the help of Slim and Sassy and TrimShake, and exercise, I have reduced my weight by over 30 pounds–that wouldn’t budge before no matter how hard I tried. My hair is thick and full again, and my body temperature is good. I have so much more patience for my children, and feel much more happy and vibrant.

No one has asked me if I’m expecting in almost a year.

My body is healing and my life has improved drastically. On the days when I forget my vitamins or for whatever reason can’t take them–I don’t crash. I don’t regress. I notice I don’t have quite as much energy, but it’s like a misplaced yawn or two, not a wall of crushing exhaustion.

I still have my little roller bottle, but really only use it when I’m feeling really stressed out. It seems to calm my system and give me a boost against all that cortisol.

If you are suffering like I was, PLEASE, give essential oils and LifeLong Vitality a try. I can’t even express to you what it’s worth to feel alive again–but I know I don’t have to. You know how you feel, and what it would mean to you to feel amazing. You can’t afford NOT to do this.

Here’s what you need to get started:

Lemon Essential Oil
Lemongrass Essential Oil
Peppermint Essential Oil
Clove Essential Oil
Myrrh Essential Oil
Frankincense Essential Oil

Fractionated Coconut Oil

Mix equal parts of each oil in a roller bottle (I did 10 drops of each), and then top the bottle off with the Fractionated coconut oil. Mine was a small roller, maybe 2″ tall. If you use a larger roller, I would suggest using more drops of each oil. Use the roller several times a day, right over your thyroid area (that little hollow in your neck, just between your collarbones).

Then, take 2 capsules of each of the following, twice a day.

Lifelong Vitality Vitamins

Before you purchase your oils retail though, be sure to learn more about your options for getting great discounts and free products. Since you’ll be taking the vitamins daily, you’ll be a great candidate for the Loyalty Rewards Program–which will earn you up to 30% back in free product credit.

Feel free to email me with your name and any questions you have. I’d love to help you start supporting your own health naturally.

In (so much better) health!

  1. This gives me so much hope as I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism at age 12. I’ve been told so often that I’ll be on the synthroid (and now liothyronine also) for the rest of my life, that my thyroid is dead, and that there is nothing to do about it. But I know the medication does absolutely nothing except show good numbers on my lab work. When I take the meds, I am exhausted always. I can never wake up easily in the morning even after a good solid sleep and I have the hardest time falling asleep at night. I crash almost every afternoon. I have no energy to run and play with my kids. I am always too hot and can never lose weight unless I’m pregnant. I am also being asked constantly if I’m pregnant or when I’m due. It’s awful. My med dose doubles when I am pregnant because my blood work results drop so low. When I am off medication I feel like I’m in heaven. I sleep at night and wake up easily every morning. I have energy all day. But then my lab work shows that my results have dropped so low that my endocrinologist told me once I’d go into a coma soon if I didn’t get back on medication.

  2. It didn’t post the rest of my comment.
I’ve been taking the lifelong vitality supplements and they have helped my depressive and “I can’t do this life thing” mood. I’ve also been doing an oil mix of frankincense, myrrh, lemongrass, clove, and fractionated coconut oil in a roller bottle. I noticed a difference in energy immediately. I don’t crash everyday. I feel rested after sleeping at night and after a quick nap wen I need it. I am entering my 3rd trimester with my 3rd child so some tiredness is expected.
I’m excited to feel the difference post-partum. I am due for more blood work soon and I think I’ll cry if they tell me to reduce or eliminate my medication. It’ll be an absolute miracle for me. Thank you for your story and your help (through your mom) in leading me to these things.

    • Heather–
I’m so glad that you’re feeling better! I can’t wait to hear the results of your bloodwork–keep me posted! And don’t be discouraged if it takes a little while to get normal bloodwork results–your thyroid didn’t become damaged overnight, and it may take a little while to heal–but the body is AMAZING and it CAN heal. Trust that for sure.

  4. I have Hashi’s and the blend of clove/peppermint/lemongrass has helped me. Not enough to get off meds, but I also haven’t tried doTerra’s vitamins yet. 🙂
Quick question – why did you add lemon? What does it do differently than the other five oils? And what do myrrh and frankincense do, do you know? I am excited to add these two to my mix.
Another question — did you have to change your diet (to gluten-free/GAPS/Paleo) to experience results? Or are the vitamins just helping that much?
    Thank you!
